The success of any enterprise depends, first of all, on a correctly formulated task.

It’s one thing when I ask the question: “Why do I want to learn how to manage my time?”

And it’s completely different when I try to find the answer to the question: “Why do I want to learn how to manage my time?”

Why - this is the reason and justification for necessity, and why - the goal and result, which gives a qualitative improvement of something.

In the process of considering and substantiating my reason, I am convinced that it consists in my elementary unwillingness to live the life that I live now.

But when I try to formulate my goal, I come across a situation of the need to choose my life priorities.

Life priorities

This is where the fun begins. Once, in one of the trainings in which I took part, the host suggested performing one interesting practice.

It consisted of the fact that it was necessary to imagine that I had only one year left to live and decide what was most important and valuable for me at the moment.

Then the year was replaced by one month, one week, etc.

Frankly, this practice turned out to be very difficult for me and in some moments even quite painful.

After all, I had to evaluate my attitude to the phenomena around me, events, people.

There was very little pleasant in this, although I became a living witness of the increase in the significance of some personal experiences as the virtual life span is reduced.

When I tried to imagine that I had only one day left to live, there was no trace left of all kinds of “worldly” affairs (such as “build a house” or “plant a tree”). During this experiment, I was not able to determine my “values” for this minimum period.

But now, I suddenly remembered the feeling of happiness that I experienced when my beloved wife called me from the hospital and said that I had become my daughter's dad. A similar feeling was repeated later again, but with the birth of a son.

I remember very well how in both cases this message was the most important and overshadowed all the other events in life, turning them into absolutely small and insignificant.

Now I know for sure that there is something much more important and valuable than money, power, material well-being and status in society.

Sense of balance

So it turns out, if the reason is determined and the goal of managing personal time is set, then everything else is already a matter of technology. Each time I do something unimportant or secondary, my inner “I” enters into a dialogue with my carnal “I” and protests against this state of affairs.

The only question is how to tune in to the wave of this dialogue. I think that a lot depends on understanding and a sense of balance within oneself.

It is useless to learn to ride a bicycle until you feel a state of balance. As soon as I caught this moment, I immediately went. From my own experience I was convinced that the ability to experience and feel the balance (it is equilibrium) makes not only our body free, but also our thinking. And thoughts, as you know, are material.

A very interesting picture emerges: when I begin to learn balance in space, and then in feelings, emotions and desires, then gradually I develop the ability to sense the passage of time.

Anyone who has ever woken up for work or was late for a train knows perfectly well the value of every minute and the number of things that can be done in this unit of time.

In addition, each cell of the human body has not only a sensation, but also a memory of the flow of internal and external time.

Our task is to constantly monitor so that the interaction and joint work of the cells of our body occurs as harmoniously and balanced as possible. If you can’t lead this process, you need to try at least not to interfere with it.

An example of this is the small children who in the first five years of their life manage to get all the necessary knowledge and skills, which then improve their whole lives. During this period, they actually do not need outside help, as they know the world around them from their own experience and determine their place in it.

If I manage to balance the work of cells and systems of my body, then I automatically enter a state of resonance with the surrounding space and become its integral part. As a result, I begin to possess its properties and qualities, the manifestation of which is the ability to manage time.


In principle, time is perceived by us as a process of changing embodied matter, having a beginning and an end. For example, for me the differences in my appearance at the age of 20 and 50 are most noticeable than the way I look today compared to yesterday.

The more distant these limiting points are from each other, the more clearly we feel the passage of time.

In fact, we are dealing with the rate of change of what we call time. Therefore, if we are talking about the ability to manage time, it would be more correct to talk about the ability of our influence on the processes occurring within us and our environment.

I think that it’s time to stop now.
